Family talk—full of quarrel, wit, and craic—ignites with the innocence of a now long-gone Ireland. A poignant reminder of the fateful days and unbreakable ties that shape who we are.
Bios
Daniel J. O’Donnell(Playwright & Uncle Peter) is a Playwright, Documentary Filmmaker, Actor and Lawyer. He is a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and a current Member of the Playwright/Director’s Workshop at The Actors Studio. As a Playwright, Mr. O’Donnell has written several one-act plays and two full-length plays: Time to Go and The Nicaraguans Are Ready. His award-winning documentary about Ireland’s Abbey Theatre, That Theatre on Lower Abbey Street, has been screened at several festivals including The Chicago Irish Film Festival, and The Ramsgate UK Internation Film Festival. Our Donegal Roots, a family history based on the book by his two brothers is available on YouTube and has more than 70,000 viewers worldwide. Film and television work includes Homicide, opposite Robin Williams, and Major League II with Charlie Sheen. On stage, he has played lead roles in New York and regionally. Most recently, he played the cantankerous Irish father in John Patrick Shanley’s Outside Mullingar at Cape May Stage.
Emily Adler (Director) is a playwright, screenwriter, and published author from New York City. Her plays include: The Frog in the Flipper, Supernatural Playboy, Face, Silver’s Law, Mechanical Brides, and Love Story in 3 Phases, and her work has been seen at The Playwright’s Center in Minneapolis, MN; Hartford Children’s Theater in Hartford, CT; The Overtime Theater in San Antonio, TX; NJ Rep in Long Branch, NJ; The Cell, Urban Stages, and HB Playwright’s Theatre in NYC. Acting credits include: Colette in Four Dogs and a Bone at The Red Room; Maggie in Blessings, Molly in Molly Sweeney and J. Robert Oppenheimer in Testimony: Theater as Witness to Our Times at HB Playwright’s Theatre. As Artistic Director of The Peers Educating Peers Program at New Jersey City University, she conceived and staged hundreds of educational theater performances and went on to direct several readings of new plays at The Actors Studio, where she is a member of the Playwright/Director Workshop and developing her latest play, Andromeda Speaks. Emily co-authored the YA novel Sweet 15, and her screenplay Anything for You made it to the quarterfinals for the 2022 Screencraft Horror Competition. She has studied acting at HB Studio with Jessica Hecht, Alfred Molina, Norbert Leo Butz, Frank Wood and Igor Golyak, and is a Resident Artist with Basement Theatrics. In 2015, she was nominated by industry professionals for The Kilroy’s List of notable female playwrights.
Mary Francina Golden(Mary) has appeared with The Oxford Shakespeare Company (New York, London, Scotland, Venice); The New Globe Theatre (Stuart Vaughan); Trinity Rep (Aidrian Hall); Pennsylvania Stage; Asolo Theatre; HB Playwrights Foundation, among others, in such diverse productions as: As You Like It; Hedda Gabler; Night Mother; Talley's Folly; The Rimers of Eldridge (dir. Amy Wright); Romeo and Juliet; Alls Well That Ends Well; MacBeth; The Merchant of Venice; Ghosts (with Kim Hunter); The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Glass Menagerie. Ms. Golden produced and acted in The Sun Shines East, Corinne Chateau's critically acclaimed play about foreign adoption. She has appeared in the award-winning Indie short The Tailor, several web series, and several Soaps. Conor Andrew Hall (James) is a New York-based actor from Michigan. He’s thankful to cast, crew, and audience - without whom none of this would be possible.
Jody Moore (Rose) first appeared on stage as a nun in her kindergarten graduation production and she’s been looking for the right venue ever since. Jody is a former member of the 9th Street Theater, Bread and Puppet and the Talebearers. Favorite performances include The Bell of Amherst, Two by Joyce and Kathleen ni Houlihan. She has also worked on the production side of TV, Film and video. She is a reader at the HB Studio Playwriting classes. Member AEA, SAG/AFTRA.
Mika Segman Hess (Stage Manager) is a New York based actor and artist. She is a recent graduate of HB Studio’s conservatory program: The Hagen Core Training, and will continue her studies next year. Her recent work includes All in the Timing and Gruesome Playground Injuries at HB Studio. She is so happy to have the opportunity to join this beautiful production and be a stage manager for The Irish Play.

Time Is Money is about two friends who challenge each other to remember what individual possibly originated a well known aphorism, while experiencing the frustrations of the human mind’s limitations, especially amid the intimidating advancement of technology.

Bios
Seamus Dever * (Rob)
Seamus Dever is best known to television audiences as Detective Kevin Ryan on the series Castle. In addition to over 300 hours of television, he has appeared onstage in theatres like the Mark Taper Forum and the Laguna Playhouse and in video games like Far Cry 5 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. He is currently playing on the television show NCIS as well as the new Amazon series Bosch: Start of Watch. Dever recently located to New York where he wants to get involved in the theatre scene like this play working with his grad school pal, John Skocik. He lives in Brooklyn with his amazing wife, Juliana and their two dogs.
John Paul Skocik * (Gary / Playwright / Co-Director)
John is an actor and musician, with songwriting being a precursor to playwriting. Other plays include Where To Buy Caviar, The Likes, and Because of Everything, the latter two being featured in the Chain Theatre’s 2025 Winter & Summer One Act Festivals respectively. He studied theatre at West Virginia University, Carnegie Mellon University, and The Moscow Arts Theatre School, and his favorite thing to do is to watch his son Jack play basketball. He is very grateful that his play is featured in this summer’s festival and sends many thanks to family and friends who have been so incredibly supportive, particularly his wife Jessica.
Joe Mortimer (Co-Director)
Joe directed his plays Grapefruit and Take the Points in both New York and Los Angeles and has performed regionally at the Georgia Shakespeare Festival and West Virginia Public Theater. He produced the feature film Outpost directed by Joe LoTruglio currently on Prime and most recently can be seen in the Netflix film Family Switch. He is honored to be part of the Chain Theater’s Summer One Act Festival.
