Synopsis

Set on New Year’s Day 2006 in New York City, David’s New Year follows the Korean immigrant Park family as they gather for a holiday dinner—more festive than ever after Hannah, the family’s “good girl,” is accepted into a prestigious college, fulfilling both her dream and her family’s long-held hopes—until, just before the celebration begins, she shares unexpected and disruptive news with her older brother, David.

Bios

Lisa Milinazzo (DIRECTOR) ‘s work spans theatre and film. Her directing nominations include the Barbara Whitman Award, Alan Schneider Award, Origin First Irish, and the L.A. Weekly Awards. Milinazzo has directed artists such as Marin Ireland, Anthony Rapp, Richard Easton, and Alec Baldwin, and has helmed theatrical premieres for Eve Ensler, Rebecca Lenkiewicz, and George F. Walker in New York, Los Angeles, and the UK. Her work has been presented by numerous companies including Page 73, Irish Repertory Theatre, Rattlestick, 59E59th Street, Urban Stages, The Cell, and 54 Below. A recipient of the NYC Artist Grant and Van Ameringen Foundation Grant, Lisa teaches in the graduate film programs at NYU Tisch and Columbia University. Youlim Nam (PLAYWRIGHT) is a New York City-based actor, playwright, director, and producer originally from Seoul, Korea. Her work has been presented in venues ranging from intimate studios to off-Broadway stages, including Theatre Row, Chain Theatre, and the Gene Frankel Theatre. She has collaborated with notable artists such as three-time Emmy Award winner Cady McClain and Lisa Milinazzo. Her accolades include the City Artist Corps Grant, Ma-Yi Theatre Grant, and Best Actress at the International Independent Short Awards. Daniel Elijah Bonchul Klimek (DAVID) is an actor in both U.S. and South Korea. Starting acting at the age of twenty, Daniel finally got his break acting in the feature Mongolian Princess as the character Alex in Korea. He went on to act in film, TV, music videos, and commercials in both countries as well as theatrical plays in the U.S.. Daniel has starred alongside Arden Cho playing her boyfriend in her music video for the song “Try”. He starred in the K-DRAMA The Chairman is Level 9 as the teacher named Thomas of a prestigious high school. The films he has acted in have made it to many film festivals all over the world including as recent as TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) 2024 for the film Don’t F*ck with Ba for playing the thieving gangster U-Jin. Sanho Kang (HANNAH) is a South Korean actor and a performance maker. She practices performance as a prayer of resistance and a tool for reconnection. Training; Syracuse University (BFA Acting). Kinley Jones (ASSISTANT DIRECTOR) is a New York City-based actor and director hailing from the small town of Fritch, Texas. Kinley trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and was a part of their NY Company from 2019 to 2020. Academy Credits include Mary Warren in The Crucible and Denise in The Harvest. Sarah Hoogenraad (PLAYWRIGHT/LESLIE) is a playwright and actor based in Astoria, Queens. She wanted more roles for funny women to exist so decided to start writing them herself. Some of her favorite plays she’s written are Celebrity Crush (Chain One Act Festival 2024) and Free Parking (LimeFest, The Tank 2025). Hofstra University. Cooper Cardone (ADAM) is a multidisciplinary artist from Rhode Island and is thrilled to be joining the Chain One Act Festival this year! A graduate of Brown University, he collaborates with various artists in musical theatre as a freelance composer, arranger, music director, and conductor. As an actor, recent theater credits include Speakeasy Die Softly (Times Square) and This Stop (Secret Theatre). Recent film credits include Unveiling (Lukas Gordon) and Fracture (Charles Shi). Miciah Wallace (CHRISTIAN) is a young artist making his way in NYC. Originally from the Midwest, Miciah has embarked on a journey to build his career as a performer primarily in Theatre. Laura Browne (SANDRA) is an actress, writer, and comedian hailing from Eastchester, New York. Her past credits include The Chain Theatre’s world premiere production of “macbitches,” a NY Times Critic’s Pick. Her play, “atticwife” will be appearing in the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She’s so excited to be working on this play with such a wonderful and hilarious group of people!!

Chandler Holloway (WILL) is so excited to be playing Will in Next Stop! Previously he was Bill in the Crush Plays Hallmark Christmas Parody show, Santa at Universal Studios Beijing, and a myriad of roles both onstage and off for The Crush Plays Project. Given his wife is the founder, there are no bounds to how he might be utilized next! He is so excited for you to see Next Stop, and hopes you keep an eye on the future of Crush Plays.
