Evening Out

Synopsis

Every four years, like leap year, a covert government initiative allows selected women to even the scales of justice. In parallel stories that unfold simultaneously on a split stage, sisters Baker and Brynn debate confronting their grandfather about childhood abuse, while across town, Susan prepares to confront her emotionally abusive husband. When their stories intersect through an act of violence, each woman must decide how to balance her own scales.

Bios

Melissa Denize - Brynn
After graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Melissa booked various commercials for brands like Walmart, Lipton Tea, Evolution fresh and Lola. Shows including TV One’s "Fatal Attraction", Max’s "Mean Girl Murders", and Paramount+ “Clock that Tea”. Her recent stage credits include “The N Trial” (Classic Theater of Harlem) Trauma Bonding (New York Theater festival), and “Brothers of the Box” (FRIGID New York) Melissa is so excited to be working on “Evening Out”, and grateful for the continued support of her family and friends.

Trinity Ross – Baker
Trinity Ross is a Brooklyn based actress from Montgomery, Alabama with a passion for telling stories of those often discriminated against. Her recent work includes the Off-Broadway premiere of House of Telescopes as well as the Lincoln Center premiere of Outside/In and several staged readings at The Tank. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Alabama with training in classical styles, physical comedy, and contemporary techniques. When she is not onstage, Trinity loves to tell stories from behind the table as a director. She would like to take this opportunity to thank trans people, but specifically Black trans women, as none of us would have equal rights without them. They are not erasable; they are the whole pencil. Happy Black History Month!

Mary Sheridan – Susan
Mary Sheridan (Susan) is so thrilled to be working with Karen & Sabrina again! Her favorite NYC theaters to work at include: the Triad, AMT Theater, Classic Stage Company, Urban Stages, the Laurie Beechman Theatre & Theatre Row. Her favorite roles include: Alma in "Summer and Smoke", Savage in "Savage in Limbo" & Gertrude in "Hamlet". Mary is a graduate of Yale University. www.marysheridan.net

Nick Luis – Choreographer
Nick Luis is a NYC based creative. He graduated from CUNY Baruch College with a Masters in Arts Administration. As a producer, actor and creator, Nick seeks to bring people together through art and storytelling in order to foster cultural exchanges and promote a more progressive and connected society. His recent producer credits are co-producing Vamos A Reir Un Poco by Rick "Wind" Herrera and the hit Broadway musical “Come From Away.” As a performer, Nick led the cast of ‘Information for Foreigners’ as 'Guide' written by Griselda Gambaro, directed by Maru Garcia at Jersey City Theater Center. He is the director of Dominant Animals by Cris Eli Blak coming to the stage 2026. Nick is also a published poet in the LGBTQ+ Anthology series “Out Loud” (Read Or Green Books, 2022)

Sabrina Zara – Director
Sabrina Zara is beyond grateful for the opportunity to direct a Karen Campion original! Born a Texan but now a New Yorker for 15+ years, she’s performed all over the city in classic and original plays and hosted many monologue and talent showcases! Her dream role is to be a femme fatale/noir detective combo and would love to direct music videos. She sends her love to her friends, sister, Pops and Moms

Karen Campion – Writer
Karen Campion writes characters who navigate tough situations – family tensions, social barriers, personal trauma – while finding moments of grace and humor even in darkness. Her work spans novels, award-winning screenplays and plays, produced short works for stage and screen, and published monologues. She is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild.

Synopsis

When Kara auditions replacements for their dead parents, grief collides with absurdity in a dark comedy about family, identity, and self.

After losing their parents, Kara holds auditions to cast replacements, interviewing a parade of absurd "mom and dad" candidates. This biting dark comedy explores grief, identity, and the roles we inherit, blending satire and heart as Kara discovers they may be auditioning for more than parental roles.

Bios

Darline Corchado (PLAYWRIGHT) is a Queens-based playwright, librarian, and former film crew member. She began writing plays in the margins—on train rides, at film festivals, and between gigs while working on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, In the Heights, Maestro, and Tick, Tick… Boom! She was a finalist for the 2025 People’s Theatre Project Playwrights Cohort. Her short play Now Auditioning: Mom & Dad was read at the inaugural Newburgh Fringe Festival in October 2025. She is a member of New Perspectives Theatre Company’s Women’s Work 2026 Short Play Lab.

Christine (Yutong) Chen (DIRECTOR) is a writer and director based in Brooklyn. Recent past credits include Off Peak at 59E59 Theatre and Blue Man Group at Astor Place Theatre. They’ve also directed the stage reading of Now Auditioning: Mom & Dad in Newburgh Fringe Festival in October 2025. They have a cat named Little Knife and would show her off at any chance they get. Diego Tobar (KARA) is an NYC-based actor, writer, and casting assistant. They have appeared as an actor in multiple Ghostlight Theatre productions at The Tank and in short films on the internet. Diego received a BFA from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU and is currently working on a novel.

Micah Price (Auditionees: ECHO, FATHER GHOST, MOTHER 2.0, PROFESSOR DAD, HOUSE HUNTER 2, & DAD)  is an actor and Writer living in Brooklyn. He's stoked to work for you today. You may have seen him perform before with Theatre 315, Red Umbrella Theatre Co., or Label Theatre Co here in NYC. Past credits include Richmond Shakespeare Festival, Xavier University Theatre, The Regular Theatre, and Cincinnati Opera. On Burnside Mountain

Synopsis

It's the mid 1980's, a decade since the disappearance of three girls: the first mass murder in a small Pennsylvania mining town. The love for basketball reunites two former high school stars, and what transpires is something no one ever expected.

Bios

Kendra Jones (PLAYWRIGHT) is a writer and educator based in New York City. She completed her MFA in nonfiction writing at Columbia University. Originally from the cornfields of Pennsylvania, Kendra graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a BS in biology and a BA in professional writing. Kendra is a Theatre Critic for The Front Row Center and is an NCAA Women’s Basketball Official. She’s a Member Resident of Woodward Residency. Her debut play, A Test of Taste, was produced as part of Chain Theatre’s 2025 Summer One-Act Festival. IG: @kendra_jones_

Derek Dahmann (DIRECTOR) is a writer, director, and producer living in Park Slope. Originally from Texas, his work observes the lives of common people navigating a violent world. For work inquiries, please reach out via Instagram @drockmcoy. 

Caleb Dunaway (BAROWSKI) is thrilled to reprise the role of Barowski. He is a graduate of the American Musical & Dramatic Academy and has since worked on numerous TV shows (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Dopesick, The Gilded Age, Gossip Girl.) He is also a guest comic at the Broadway Comedy Club & The Greenwich Village Comedy Club. 

JS Howard (ZIELINSKI) is a Brooklyn-based actor and writer with origins in New Hampshire. NYC: On Burnside Mountain (Script Club), Untold Horrors… (NY Theater Fest.). Regional: Macbeth (Shakespeare on the Sound). Thanks to mom, dad, Lauren and Simon. 

Stephen Tilden (BARTENDER) is a writer and father living in Park Slope. He brings to his performances decades of lived in experience earned as a construction manager for New York City’s infrastructure projects. His publications include those through Oxford University Press and Fifty Word Stories.
