Platonic Romance Dance

synopsis

“Platonic Romance Dance” is a one-act play about Papa Bear and Wolfie who are new gay best friends who both secretly have developed feelings for one another but never talk about it. Both have boyfriends. One day while in Central Park, they have a conversation about said feelings, how to navigate their friendship with such knowledge and talk about what most gay men don’t talk about: platonic gay friendships and their complexities that can arise. Bios

B.Michael Peterson (Producer, Writer, Director) is a BK-based independent talent manager, playwright and director. He is a former production manager, stage manager and drag artist. His other plays include: “Revenge of the Pink Posse”, “The Truth Comes Out”, “My Hike With Wolfie” and is currently writing “Bermuda Triangle Chaos” In 2014, he presented his play “Truce, or The Suicide Letter” at The Pocket Theater (Seattle) for their inaugural Emerging Playwrights Festival. His directing credits includes: “Kiss of the Spider Woman” by Manuel Puig (Trial by Fire TheatreWorks/Oregon), “His Mother Calls Him Petey” by John C. Davenport (Seattle Playwrights Collective/Seattle), “BREAK” by J.Stephen Brantley (Over the Rainbow Performance Lab/Portland), and “The Greyhound” by Scot Augustson (Annex Theater Company/Seattle). He produced a staged reading of “Sochi 2004” by Tess Berry-Hart (Eclectic Theater Company/LA) in 2014. His NYC stage managment credits include: “Infinite: The Musical” by Lagalante (The Tank), “Mahinerator” by Jerry Leibech (The Tank) and “Protected” by ___ (Dream Up Festival/Theater for the New City) plus dozens of other plays and musicals in the pacific northwest since 2001. He has also produced dozens of drag shows, private events and served as a board member of Q: A Queer Resource for Social Change in 2006 to 2008. He is the founder and talent manager of Peterson Artists, LLC - where he manages a roster of clients including Boy Radio, Michael Vaccaro, Urban Focus Studios and DJ Le Grand Phoenix. Aaron Gutterman (Sound Designer/Board Operator) Aaron Gutterman is a multi-faceted artist based in New Jersey. He recently earned his B.F.A. in Theater Arts from Hofstra University. Favorite recent credits include: Chain: Breaking the Chain - Chuck (The Chain Theater), Rocket - Koy (The Chain Theater). Elsewhere: The Polar Express Train Ride - Lighting Technician (Rail Events Inc.), Falsettos - Mendel (Hofstra University), The Addams Family - Production Stage Manager (Red Oaks School). Jay Lucas Chacon (WOLFIE) is a singer & actor from the world of opera embarking on the journey towards Broadway. Taylor Brandon (PAPA BEAR)is an alum of William Esper Studio and has performed at Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing, Swing 46 Jazz and Supper Club, and Disney Cruise Line. Taylor adapted, produced, and starred in Voodoo Heart based on the same short story by Scott Snyder. He has performed in regional productions of West Side Story, Crazy For You, Joseph and the...Dreamcoat, as well as original works at the Actors Temple Theatre. Scenes of [dis]Connection

Synopsis

The show begins with 3 friends coming together for a night of poker – the night quickly polarizes as the conversation unintentionally seems to pull the friends further apart. The scene is then reenacted by each friend… this time alone at the table – where we get a chance to discover how much each longs to be understood.

BIOS

Mary McCarthy’s (One’s) comedic work has been featured on The Skimm, Huffington Post, Good Morning America, Rachael Ray, and many more. Her web series, The Goodpie Girl was a Network Notes selection at the ITV Fest. Other favorite productions and films include Poems of... [Insert Title], Teeth, Violets, Romeo and Juliet, and Remain Calm. @notengaged

Griffin Garnett (Another) is a New York–based actor, singer, and voiceover artist trained at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and HB Studio. His work spans stage, screen, and audio, including short films and live performance. A featured performer in “Literally Speaking: Hear Actors Read Your Favorite Writers”, Griffin brings bold energy, musicality, and emotional depth to every role.

Hannah Wu (Alternative) is an actor, dancer, and singer based in NYC. She was born in Beijing, China but spent majority of her childhood in Calgary, Canada where she discovered her love for performing. Hannah graduated from Circle in the Square Theatre School’s two-year conservatory in June 2025. Since graduating she has worked with Ghost Light Theatre Company, Poor Mouth Theatre Company, and just recently was in Sarasota FL premiering The Shark Lady, a new musical by Christina Meiping Chen. She is currently also in another Chain Winter One-Act this year: Don’t Worry Your Pretty Little Head by Jaimee Lee Gaston, program #24. Enjoy the show! hannahwu.org

Kevin T. Durfee (Playwright / Director) is a queer artist and playwright who uses the art of storytelling to understand the world around him. Kevin is excited to debut Scenes of [dis]Connections as part of the 2026 Chain Theatre One-Act Festival. Theatre’s Short Play Festival) and Between the Wired Fence (2025, Chain Theatre One-Act Festival); full-length plays, Poems of… [Insert Title] (2024, Factory Series at the Chain Theatre) and Oh, Those Little White Lies (2017, Mosaic Theatre Company). Rafaella Rossi(Stage Manager) is a Manhattan based stage manager and is thrilled to be a part of The Chain’s One-Act Festival and this production of Scenes of [dis]Connections.
