meeting marlon

Written and Directed by David Rich

Synopsis: Actors have come to audition for a film Marlon Brando is planning to direct. They wait. They wait. At last sides are dropped through a mail slot. But the two actors spar over their different interpretations of the sides. Then the door opens and someone who looks nothing like Marlon Brando enters.

ADRIENNE IANNICIELLO (Sally) - Adrienne is an actor, writer, & director. In the comedy world, she's been a performer/writer at the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre (Characters Welcome, Maude Night) and produces regular shows with her sketch comedy group, Young Douglas (NY Comedy Festival, Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival, iO Fest in Chicago, Vulture Mag). KAILER SCOPACASA (Joe) - Born and raised on the island of Kauai, I grew up making movies and posting them on Youtube. At first, they would only star my cat as the lead but then began to include his friends, family and expanded into making feature films with a full script. I also got into doing theatre and went and trained for 2 years at Stella Adler's school in LA. Now, I've been in New York doing theatre, making films, and loving it!

LOU CRESPO (Marlon/Michael) - Lou Crespo is thrilled to be back at Chain Theatre in Meeting Marlon. He is an alumni of the Deena Levy Theatre Studio and has performed in many productions in his home state of Texas. Some of his credits include Company (Robert), You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Snoopy), Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour), King Lear (Edgar), Frankenstein (Victor Frankenstein), Godspell (Jesus), Urinetown (Bobby Strong), and The Producers (Leo). He would like to thank David for this opportunity, the cast, the crew, and Kait for their support.

KAGEN ALBRIGHT (Robert) - When not acting Kagen is usually reading or walking around trying to find something tasty to eat. He was born and raised in Ketchum, Idaho, and currently resides in Brooklyn. This is his NYC stage debut.

KEN HABARTA (Brando) - Ken Habarta makes his first professional vocal appearance in “Meeting Marlon” having served his apprenticeship at The Barrow Group where he studied dramatics under Ron Piretti, Zsuska Beswick and Brian Rojas. He is also a studied improv performer having spent the last year with The Magnet Theater under the guidance of Armando Diaz and Louis Kornfeld. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where his father was studying organic chemistry, he has lived and worked in New York since 1988. His film credits include: I Wish My Bones Were Unidentifiable (Steve), Father Daddy (Father Angelo) and Note to Self (Paul).

DAVID RICH (Writer, Director) – In his years as a screenwriter, David wrote scripts about carnivorous roaches, an urban Tarzan, an obsessive snake handler, an artist tormented by visions, cowboys, spies, cops, private eyes, soldiers, psychics, con artists, politicians and lawyers. Along the way, he was hired to write a script for Marlon Brando, a highlight (The Smiling Buddha). Recently he turned to novels:  Caravan of Thieves and Middle Man and The Mirrored Palace. Meeting Marlon is David’s first play to be produced. You can find more information and say hello at https://www.davidrichbooks.com

Synopsis:  Louie is a fourty-year-old dishwasher at an Italian restaurant and he desperately wants to be promoted to the kitchen, so he decides to cook his boss, Giovanni, a brand-new dish to show him his skills, or lack thereof. Will Louie get the promotion he so craves, or will he end up losing everything he worked very little for?

CHRIS GACINSKI (Playwright/Director) is a playwright/drummer/poet/actor based in Massapequa, NY.  He is ecstatic to be participating in his fourth consecutive Chain Theatre festival, with his plays Le Petit Bateau, Unhinged, and Old Stomping Grounds being performed in Winter 2024, Summer 2024 and Winter 2025 respectively. Chris was the resident drummer for Measure for Measure Theatre Company, where he played drums for shows like In the Heights, Next to Normal, and his all-time favorite musical, 35MM: A Musical Exhibition,  which he has the absolute pleasure to play again,  August 14th,16, and 17th  at The Laurie Beechman Theatre! JUNIE B. HART (Giovanni) is excited to return for his second one-act festival here at The Chain Theatre. When he’s not in front of the camera, the walking animated laughing track stretches his muscles on stage throughout the greater NYC area.
