SYNOPSIS
In ancient Rome, the Ides of May (May 15) heralded Mercuralia, an annual festival to honor the birth of Mercury, the god of merchants, travelers, thieves, and the guide of departed souls to the gates of the Underworld.
Ides of May revolves around an unsparing patriarch’s final hours, as his now-fragmented family gathers one last time before everything is lost to the ashes of memory. It examines what we inherit, what we survive, and what we struggle to articulate before it’s too late.
BIOS
Jake Banasiewicz (ZACH) is an NYC-based actor and playwright. Recent credits include grease my chin and Double Exposure. Jake is also an alum of the renowned experimental theatre company The New York Neo-Futurists. He is available for productions, staged readings and corporate parties. @jobanasi
Sevin Ceviker (MAIA) is a Turkish-American actor, classical dancer and choreographer based in New York City. Sevin makes her return to the Chain Theatre after premiering in the role of Helena in 57 Parkview earlier this year. As a seven-year member of the Martha Graham Dance Company, she is passionate about telling stories that live in the body as much as the text. She has has performed in multiple Off-Broadway productions, along with a number of films and television series. She is thrilled to be a part of Ides of May and to support Jeff’s vision.
Melissa Fleming (AUNT DOLORES) is an actor and writer based in NYC. Trained at Esper Studio and T. Schreiber Studio, she has appeared in multiple film projects and sketch comedy series, along with multiple theatre festivals and showcases - including Schreiber Shorts at Theatre Row, the Hrosthwitha Project, the Boomerang Theatre Baton Project and the Secret Theatre’s One-Act Play Festival. She is excited to be a part of Chain Theatre's Summer One-Act Festival.
Jeff Dylan Garrett (PLAYWRIGHT / JAMES) is happy to return to Chain Theatre, after debuting his one-act farce 57 Parkview earlier this year. As an actor, he most recently appeared as Astrov in Hudson Classical Theatre’s production of Uncle Vanya. Dan McVey (DIRECTOR) is thrilled to be directing his first play. As an actor, he has appeared as Vanya in Uncle Vanya, Casca in Julius Caesar (both at Hudson Classical), Ed in Halftime with Don (NJ Rep), Bernardo/Francisco in Elsinore County (Theatre Row), and Billy in Pretty Babies (13th Street Rep) for which he received an Innovative Theater Award. Film work includes roles in “Maybe Next Year,” “On the Table,” “Amadeus Hotel,” and more.
Ned Read (UNCLE RICHARD) is a New York-based actor, having moved to NYC in 2024 after 35 years in Washington DC. Ned returns to the Chain Theatre One-Act Festival, after premiering in 57 Parkview during the Winter 2026 festival. DC stage credits include Folger Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre, and Studio Theatre, among others. On-camera credits in DC and New York include television as well as independent, industrial, and student films. Ned completed the Studio Acting Conservatory (DC) core and advanced curriculum under founder Joy Zinoman, and continued training in NYC at The Barrow Group, T. Schreiber Studio, and One on One Studios.
Lindsey Rae Root (VERITY) is a New York–based actor and physical theatre artist with an MFA from Accademia dell’Arte (and MUW). Her work centers on movement-driven storytelling, with training in clown, Commedia dell’Arte, and more. Select credits include Enemy of the People, Much Ado About Nothing, and she has directed Once Upon a Mattress. Jordan Quellman (DIRECTOR)
Jordan Quellman is a director and director of photography based in New York. His narrative filmmaking has taken him from the Amazon rainforest, to emergency medical clinics in Uganda, to the docks of Macau, often in service of stories about humanity’s relationship to the natural world and to one another. Having spent significant time in the indigenous territories of the Americas, his current work focuses on the reharmonization of industrialized humanity with nature.

Katie Walenta (she/they) is a Nebraska-born, Brooklyn-based writer and producer. Recent film production credits include “For Your Entertainment” (Dir. Katharine King So, 2026); “St. Anthony” (Dir. Verve, 2026); “The Voicemail” (Dir. JT Tsou, 2026); and The Allegory (Dir. JT Tsou (she/her) is a Brooklyn-based writer, director, and producer working across TV/film, theater, and marketing. Her credits span Broadway (Operation Mincemeat), Netflix (Barbie: It Takes Two, Bad Day, An Innocent Girl), Paramount (Friaser, Star Trek Franchise, Happy Face, Criminal Minds: Evolution, etc.) PBS (Work It Out Wombats), Disney (Big City Greens the Movie: Spacation), and Nickelodeon (Bossy Bear). With a strong focus on minimalist storytelling, her work frequently explores the quiet, high-stakes friction and comedy within interpersonal dynamics and shared memory. Anna Basse (she/her) is thrilled to make her Chain Theatre debut in The Record as Elena! She is a Brooklyn-based actor, writer, and director. Off Broadway credits include, Revolution. Emma DeCarlo (she/her) is a New York-based stage and TV/film actress, and stand-up comedian who is stoked to be back at the Chain Theater! Katie Olivero (she/her) graduated from NYU Tisch in 2023 with a major in drama (Meisner Studio) and a minor in film. Since then, she has worked in production for shows like FBI (CBS) and An Innocent Girl (Netflix), and has acted in comedy skits, and plays.
